1. APPLICABLE RULES

The Mountain Bike Marathon is organized under the regulations of Cyprus Cycling Federation and the present specific regulations of the event

The Mountain Run competitions are organized under the regulations of the Cyprus Amateur Track & Filed Federation.

 

2. ATHLETES CATEGORIES FOR MOUNTAIN BIKE AND MOUNTAIN RUN COMPETITIONS

Athletes of the following categories are allowed to participate in APHRODITE TROPHY 2010

  • Cadets 15-16 years old with or without license (Short Distance)
  • Juniors Men and Women 17-18 years old (Short or Middle distance)
  • Men &  Women 19-30 years old
  • Masters 1 men and women with License 31-40 years old
  • Masters 2 men and women with License 41+ years old
  • Men and women categories without license 19-30 years old
  • Masters 1 men and women without License 31-40 years old
  • Masters 2 men and women without License 41+ years old

 

3. DISTANCES & AWARD CEREMONIES

APHRODITE TROPHY has 3 distances or the Mountain Bike competition and 3 distances for the Mountain Running competition

The distances for MTB Marathon are:

  • Short Distance 20 km
  • Middle Distance 48km
  • Long Distance 70 km

 

The distances for Mountain Run are:

  • Short Distance Running: 6,2 km
  • Middle Distance Running: 12,4km
  • Long Distance Running 18,6km

The first three athletes from each category receive prizes and must be present at the award ceremony.

 

4. PROGRAM OF THE EVENTS

Friday 19/3/2010

12:00 – 16:00 Registration for all participants

Saturday 20/3/2010

08:30-10:30 Registration for all participants

11:00 Start of the Mountain Run Competition

13:00 Award Ceremony for Mountain Run Competition

Sunday 21/3/2010

08:30-10:30 Registration for all participants

11:00 – Start of Mountain bike Marathon Middle & Long Distances

11:30 – Start of Mountain Bike Short Distance

5. APHRODITE TROPHY “TRAINING CAMP”

The week preceding the competitions there will be a training camp organized for all participants. The training camp will include several activities like.

  • Rides and Running with professional riders and runners,
  • Technical skills lessons
  • Lectures
  • “Halloumi Making”  watch how to make the typical Cyprus cheese.

Participation in the activities is subject to a participation fee!

 

6. INSCRIPTION, NUMBERS & TRANSPONDER DISTRIBUTION.

Online inscription on www.mtbcyprus.com

There will be online description available. We encourage all participants to make their registration online before the 19th March.

Race office hours:

There will be a registration and inscription office open for every event. All athletes can pick up their numbers on the working hours of the office

The office will be open from 12:00 to 16:00 on the 19th March 2010 in Tochni Tavern 200 meters from the Start Line. Signage will be on course to guide you to the registration office

All riders on the time of their registration will receive a transponder for the electronic timing. During the races they must put it on their ankle or bike according to the instructions. All transponders will be charged with a deposit of €50 which will be refunded when you return the transponder.

 

6.1 Training on the course:

Courses will be fully marked and signed 24 hours before the races. During the week there will also preliminary signage in all courses!

Training is allowed every day during the week before the event. At the trainings there will be no personnel on the course except the personnel responsible for the signage.

No one is allowed to train on the race course during other races!

 

7. FEEDING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ZONES

For all races there will be feeding zones (FZ). For the Mountain Run competitions there will be one FZ for the short distance and two FZ for the middle distance. For the Mountain Bike there will be one FZ for the Short distance, two FZ for the middle distance and three FZ for the middle distance. All FZ’s will be allowed as technical assistance zones for the Mountain bike events only.

There will be a neutral feeding zone by the organizer. The organizer will NOT provide any technical assistance to the riders.

 

8. REGISTRATION FEES

MTB Marathon short distance 21/03/2010  € 25.- per person

MTB Marathon middle distance 21/03/2010 € 30.- per person

MTB Marathon long distance 21/03/2010   € 40.- per person

 

Mountain Running Competition 20/03/2010 € 15.- per person

Registration fee includes: Electronic timing, numbers, medals, “think green” wristband and other gifts

 

9. HEALTH AND INSURANCE

All non- licenced riders must present a doctor certificate that enables them to participate in the races. Also they must pre- register so that the organizers arrange their insurance for the races.

 

APHRODITE TROPHY MOUNTAIN RUN

 

New races for Mountain Bikers and Mountain Runners

The race will take part in a round course of 6,2 km each lap inside and around the village of Tochni. The course will cover narrow streets inside the village and forest roads around the village mainly on the North side. There will be three different distances as follows

Race Course

  • Short Distance ( 6,2 km) – 1 lap
  • Middle Distance (12,4 Km) – 2 laps
  • Long Distance (18,6 Km) – 3 laps

 

Age Categories

Long distance:   Men- 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Women- 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+

Middle Distance: Men- 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ …

Women- 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+

Short Distance:     Men- 12-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ …

Women- 12-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+

Runners will be placed on their age category according to their age on the day of the race.

Team Classification

Three runners, all taking part in one of the three different distance categories can form a team and enter the team competition (no matter of sex or age). The first three teams will be awarded in men,  women and mix categories

Refreshment zones

There will be two refreshment areas during the race – at the start/finish zone (or 6th and 12th km)  and one in the middle of the course (or 3rd, 9th and 15th km) where water and isotonic drinks will be given to the athletes.

 

Medical Support

The Organizer is not responsible for death, injury or damage of the athletes health, who by submitting their participation form, declare that are aware of the dangers existing in the mountainous environment and assure that their health condition is such that allows them to compete. No athlete is obliged to present a medical certificate.

There will be a doctor and paramedics present in the Start and Finish area during the whole duration of the race

Inscriptions

The runners will can make their online registration in the race website Aphrodite.mtbcyprus.com until the 19th March or on the race venue at the registration office until one hour prior to the race.

Time Limit

There will be a 3,5 hours time limit for all the participants to finish the race
