Cyprus Sunshine Cup 2010 is fixed. The well known mountainbike race series on Cyprus does it compact next year. Two weeks, from 21st of February to 7th of March the pro riders will fight for the overall on three weekends of competition. New: for hobby bikers the Aphrodite Trophy was originated. This contains a mountain run and a mountainbike marathon on the weekend 20/21 of March.

The 2009 campaign is still running but the process of planning for 2010 will start soon. Especially planning of the pre season training camps. Therefore the sunny island Cyprus is called an excellent destination.

For a lot of world class mountainbikers the races of the Cyprus Sunshine Cup are fitting closely into their training schedule. To give more riders the opportunity to compete for the overall classement as well as for the 29 000 Euro prize money altogether, the Cyprus Sunshine Cup 2010 has been packed into three weekends.

Voroklini, this years final, will be the kick off on 21st of February. The course therefore will be something simplier to get the start a little bit easier. The well known Afxentia stage race in the Macheras forest contains again three days racing from 26 to 28th of February.

The final race will be done at Amathous between the ancient ruins ahead of the great Mediterranean scenery.

All three events are offering UCI registered junior races. At Afxentia this concerns the xc race on Sunday.

As well as this year, the races are also open to hobby bikers without licence.

Aphrodite Trophy

Two weeks later another package comes along. The Aphrodite Trophy combines the already known mountainbike marathon race between Tochni and Kalavasos, which has been the opening Sunshine Cup round so far.

Especially for hobby bikers this is the chance to connect a spring training camp on Cyprus with a first test of the shape.

But 2010 runners also will have the opportunity to compete. The beautiful area around Tochni offers nice tracks and the Aphrodite Trophy is set with two, a 5 and a 15 kilometer distance through the mountains.

For sure one can do both, if he likes to.
